Area Activities

Southwest Montana has many quality attractions. We have lived here for many years and have seen and done about all of them.

Horseback riding is available nearby if that is your passion.

There are numerous hiking trails and natural attractions. Our favorite is Natural Bridge State Park which is about 14 miles from the Ranch. This is an out of the way local attraction that is truly amazing. The falls are 105 feet high.

Another great scenic opportunity is the 68 mile long Beartooth Highway. The highway runs from Cooke City, Montana down into Wyoming and returning to Montana ending near Red Lodge. This remarkable drive is available after snow removal (late May / early June) through the onset of winter (usually mid October). We access the Highway by traveling through the northeast part of Yellowstone. While many visitors focus their Yellowstone trip on the geyser basin, we believe that the best part of the Park is in the northeast quarter (Mammoth Hot Springs, the Upper and Lower Falls of the Yellowstone through the Canyon, Tower Falls and the Lamar Valley). One of our favorite short hikes is Uncle Tom's Trail on the south side of the Lower Falls of the Yellowstone in the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. The last two images show views from that trail.
